Earth Day is Saturday, April 19

Earth DayJoin us for Earth Day in Vallejo! We’ve got two different activities to choose from. From 9:00 to noon we’ll be at the upper end of Blue Rock Springs Creek for a cleanup. Park at the dog park/skate park parking lot on Ascot Parkway. Follow the path behind the dog park, cross the bridge, and you’ll see us. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes, hat, sunscreen and gloves. We’ll provide water, tools, and light refreshments.

We will also have a booth at Vallejo’s Earth Day celebration downtown on Marin between Georgia and Virginia from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Stop by the table, see what’s happening with the Alliance, and enjoy all the other vendors and activities: climbing wall, kids crafts, face painting, jugglers, music, and much more at the Farmers Market. See you there!

Rain Cancels 3/29 Workday

Due to the weather forecast, we are cancelling the Lake Chabot shoreline improvement project slated for Saturday, March 29. Thanks to everyone who planned to come! Please consider helping us out on Earth Day, April 19, at our table at the Downtown Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you’re interested in volunteering, please call Jennifer at (707) 644-8949 ext. 292.

Lake Chabot Shoreline Improvements Needed

Kids are coming to Lake Chabot soon for the Youth Fishing Derby, and we need to do a little shore line improvement so they can reach the water. Please join us on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Wear sturdy clothes and shoes (waders if you have them), hat, sunscreen, and gloves. We’ll provide water and refreshments, as well as any tools that are needed. We’ll meet at the boat launch ramp in Dan Foley Community Park. Enter the park at the east end of North Camino Alto, off Tuoumne near Sutter Solano Medical Center.

Last Big Planting Day of the Spring is Saturday, March 15

This is the last big planting day of the season, so grab your boots and come on out! We’ll meet in Hanns Park. Park in the lot on Sklyline just off Redwood Parkway, and follow the signs up the bike path. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes, hat, gloves, and sunscreen. We’ll provide tools, water, and refreshments.

Please join the Alliance and the Solano Resource Conservation District for a planting restoration day this Saturday, February 22 at Hanns Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Park in the Hanns Park lot (on Skyline off Redwood) and follow the signs up the bike path to the restored meadow. We’ll supply tools, water, refreshments, you wear sturdy shoes, clothes that can get dirty, hat, sunscreen, and gloves. See you there!

Let’s Fly!

Pelicans Above White Slough, VallejoThe San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival is coming soon.The Festival takes place on Mare Island and around the Bay Area, February 7-9. There are outings galore, and a terrific Wildlife Expo (be sure to stop by the Vallejo Watershed Alliance table if you come to the Expo) with vendors, non-profits, artwork and more.  Join us in Hanns Park on Saturday, November 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. We’ll start work on a path for the students to use in their Watershed Explorers classes this spring, as well as preparing upland plots for planting. Wear comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, hat, gloves, and sunscreen. Water, tools, and refreshments will be provided.
