Coastal Cleanup Day is Here!

Join more than 40,000 volunteers across the state for the largest volunteer day on the planet! This vital community-building event takes place every September, encouraging residents to cleanup their local shorelines, rivers, creeks, lakes and inland waterways. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, September 21st from 9 a.m. to noon.

There are 19 different Vallejo cleanup sites to choose from, or you can join the Vallejo Watershed Alliance site along Rindler Creek (meet at the corner of Fairgrounds Drive and Coach Lane). Other sites include Dan Foley Park, Hanns Park, River Park, Cullinan Ranch, Blue Rock Springs Park, Glen Cove Marina and Glen Cove Waterfront Park, Vallejo Municipal Marina, Lake Dalwigk, Meadows at Catalina and Delta Meadows Park, and White Slough (behind EcoThrift).

Cleanup organizers are committed to eliminating the waste created by the cleanup itself. They ask volunteers to bring reusable cleanup supplies, such as work gloves, a refillable water bottle, or a bucket to help ensure their work sites generate no trash of their own. Each site will be well-stocked with the necessary supplies if needed.

For additional details and to volunteer in Vallejo, please visit Vallejo Wastewater/Coastal Cleanup.  You may also call (707) 645-8258 or email Info@ValcoreRecycling.org if you need more information. Find a site near you by visiting CleanupSolano.org. If you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver before participating. Volunteers should wear sunscreen, sturdy shoes, a hat, mask and work gloves.

This year’s local cleanups are made possible through the active participation of the cities and counties of Solano, the California Coastal Commission, Vallejo Flood & Wastewater District, VALCORE Recycling, Recology Vallejo, the City of Vallejo and the Greater Vallejo Recreation District.
